WHAT IS COMPYLSORY EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE?

In general terms, the Compulsory Earthquake Insurance is an Insurance product oriented towards the dwellings within the boundaries of the municipalities. This coverage is a madatory insurance, for which the guarantee is provided by the DASK but the marketing authority is given to the authorised insurance companies and their agencies, tp provide coverage for the financial damages caused by the earthquake on dwellings.

HOW LONG IS THE EFFECTIVE PERIOD OF THE COMPULSORY EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE?

The period of the Complusory Earthquale Insurance is one year. You have to extend your insurance policy prior to its espiry every year.

WHAT KIND OF HOUSES DOES THE COMPULSORY INSURANCE COVER?

You have to take Compulsory Earhtquake Insurance for the dwellings and Independent sections indicated below.

  • The dwellings constructed on the real estates, which are registered at the Land Registry Office and subject to the private ownership.
  • Independent sections within the scope of the ownership by apartment Law. No: 634, Independent sections which are situated within these buildings and used as workplace, office and with similar purposes,
  • The Dwellings wither constructed by the State due to Natural Disastars or build with the credit provided by the government.
  • Compulsory Earthquake Insurance must be taken also for the buildings which comply to the above provisions and assigned  easement right and, the buildings for which the type rectifications have not ben made yet and registered as ' building plot, etc. ' in the registry records, and the cooperation estates for which title deed rectifications have not yet been made. The dwellings which do not have an independent title deed yet are insured according to the declaration of the insured and the information pertaining to the building plot.


HOW ARE THE PREMIUMS DETERMINED?

The amount to the annual premium you have to pay; shows variations in relation to the size of your dweling, type of constuciton and the earthquake risk region it is located at. There are five different earthquake risk regions in our country according to the Mao of Earthquake Regions in Turkey. According to this, higher premiums are paid in high risk regios, and lower premiums are paid in low risk regions.

The insurance premiums are increased every year in prallel to the increase in the construciton costs, but however, they are kept at an affordable level.

The objective with the Compulsory Eathquake Insurance is to provide a coverage in minimum amounts. If the value of your property exceeding the coverage provided by DASK, it is possible to take an additional coverage from the insurance companies for the exceeding amount.

HOW WILL YOU TAKE YOUR INSURANCE?

It is possible for you to take your Compulsory Earthquake Insurance coverage by giving a visit to any insurance company in Turkey ( most of them are authorised by DASK ) or to their agencies including bank branches.Or through our company aswell. The insurance companies act only as a broker and the guarantee is provided by DASK. Hence, in the case of a damage the compensation payment is made by DASK.

By taking a Compulsory Earthquake Insurance;

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT TAKE A COMPULSORY EARHTQUAKE INSURANCE?

If you do not have a Compulsory  Earthquake Insurance;

  • You will be totally without coverage for the damages incurring to your house in the case of an earthquake.
  • You will not be able to carry out any registration procedures relating to your house at the Property Registration Office.
  • The Compulsory Earthquake Insurance is also required for the subscription procedures for the services such as water, naturel gas, electric and telephone.
